I want to let my readers know how much I appreciate them. Your participation in these websites can only help these victims find justice. I would like to say thank you to all the readers, lurkers, posters, tipsters, message board members, and others who have taken the time to participate in this site. For those who have actually been affected by the crimes presented here, your support of this site, and your cooperation means more than anything to me. I will always do the best I can to work with you regarding anything presented on this site. All you have to do is let me know how I can help. If there is anything I can do to improve this site, or make it easier to use, feel free to contact me.

Privacy

Emails sent to me remain private unless you give explicit permission for their content to be published. This includes tips, inside information, and other content that you wish to remain confidential. I do not publish everything I receive, and I certainly do not publish everything I have. Comment or emails that contain threatening or offensive content will be investigated. By sending threatening of offensive emails to any of my addresses associated with this site, CrimeShadowsNews, CrimeShadows.com, or ZodiackillerTruth.com you are giving me permission to publish those emails at my discretion. I will cooperate with law enforcement officials regarding any communications occuring on any of my sites or sent to my email addresses.

Comments

I am not responsible for comments made by visitors to this site. I reserve the right to delete any comment for any reason, or for no reason at all. If you are going to hurl accusations or other negative verbage on my site, at least have the courage to do so without hiding behind an anonymous profile. I wouldn’t ask anything that I wouldn’t do myself, and my identity is no secret. I have no problem with people expressing differing opinions, as long as those opinions are expressed with civility and intelligence.

I welcome and respect comments from those who may not see things the way I do politically, spiritually, or otherwise –with certain exceptions. Spam, hate speech, profanity, and disrespect of any of the victims on my sites will not be tolerated. I may even permanently ban those who engage in such activity from all of my sites. I detest racism, antisemitism, and anti-American speech and such drivel is not allowed here. Apologists for murderers and sex offenders are disgusting and egocentric. They have no place here. Yes, I believe in free speech –and I do allow opinions that I am in strong disagreement with– but there are plenty of places for the opposition to express themselves besides my domain.

Commenters that accuse me of printing lies or libel need to quote the content in question, not paraphrase. I will make any due corrections and even offer an apology if warranted. If you spread falsehoods that you cannot back up with evidence and facts, you will be banned.

The comment section is intended for brief comments about the accompanying post. It is not intended for you to post lists of links to websites with opposing views or long lectures directed at the author. It is not there to enable wars of words with other posters. Comments that contain certain keywords are held for moderation. They will be approved as soon as a moderator has read them. Certain posts may not be approved. Such posts are those that are disrespectful to a victim of crime, posts that are overly profane, posts that are cleverly disguised spam, and posts that are just plain abusive.

You are welcome to have your say, just as anyone else is. Do not tell other commenters (or me) to "shut up." or "be quiet." Don’t comment only to tell other commenters hat and what not to discuss. I will take care of that. This is my domain, not yours. If you don’t like what is being said, you are free to leave.

Do not double post your comments. If there is more than one post on the same subject, pick one to make your comment. When you double post, we end up with double responses. This is redundant and unnecessary. Interested parties can find the comment without it being published below every article.

I’m really not a prude, but please use a little moderation with the expletives. Avoiding F-bombs is recommended. Also, please, show consideration for other readers by doing your best to use proper spelling, punctuation, capitalization, grammar, etc., etc.

Visitors may notice most of the images on my sites are watermarked with "crimeshadows.com" or another of my site names. I do this because many inexperienced or just plain inconsiderate people use these images in MySpace pages, forums, and other such sites by hotlinking. Instead of blocking images from all sites, or using .htaccess to replace the image with one less desirable, I place the watermark on the image to direct viewers of the image to the source of the original location. In this manner, I hope to avoid ill-will between this site and those who may not be familiar with the proper use (or non-use) of images that belong to someone else.

If you are a criminal and you want me to stop writing about you, too bad. I do not respond well to threats and you may receive even more public attention in the long run by trying to silence me. If you believe I have written something untrue, let me know. I will make any corrections that are necessary. I strive to be as accurate as possible and do not want to defame or libel anyone. I will respect your rights, but not at the cost of my own, or at the cost of the victims of these crimes.

Redactions

Readers may notice names, photos, and even entire posts be withdrawn from this site. While the first amendment protects speech and my right to publish, there are times when I feel it is in the best interest of the parties involved if certain content is removed. This is especially true in the case of minors and privacy related issues. If you feel that the privacy of a law abiding citizen is being violated on this site, please, contact me. I will be glad to make any changes that are warranted. As a law-abiding citizen, I am strongly against vigilantism and the taking of the law into one’s own hands. I do not encourage or condone such behavior here. I do not solve crimes, catch bad-guys, or any other job designated for law-enforcement professionals. I am an amateur researcher and writer providing information to the public about certain crimes and certain criminals.

I use advertising and affiliate programs to help with the costs of this site. I try to keep such activity as unobtrusive as possible. I do not use pop-up advertising. I do not use any scripting that does anything without your knowledge. I do not generate any profit from this site, which operates at a loss. The sites named on this page are not designed with financial gain in mind. I do what I do as a voluntary service. Donations are appreciated, but not necessary. I can’t promise that I won’t use the money to by Scotch. Seriously –Your patronage of the sponsors of this site and your donations will go toawrd site improvements. Costs of operating this site, besides my ISP, include such things as hosting, domain registrations, various subscriptions and fees, etc., etc,. I’m not breaking the bank, but not everything is free and on the Internet. As the site grows and traffic increases, so will the costs involved. Traffic remains on the increase, month by month. Eventually, I will have to move this site to more expensive servers.

I do not deal in documents or black market materials. I abhor anything that glorifies or provides revenue to murderers, rapists, and the like. I do not buy information regarding any of these cases that is not available to the public at large. I do not sell information to anyone.
