Doug Pope: Youth Minister, Etc.

31-year-old Douglas Randall Pope of Statesboro, Georgia was arrested after a complaint was filed on May 20. Pope was charged with three counts of enticing a child for indecent purposes and one count of child molestation. Pope was the Youth Pastor of Merrywood Baptist Church in Statesboro and the leader of a youth group called “H20 Youth.” Police executed a search warrant and confiscated computers and digital media from Pope’s home.

A fourteen-year-old female minor claimed that Pope had been molesting her for the last two years. It turns out that other girls had also been victimized by Pope. Investigators are still working this case to find out who else Pope may have harmed.
