Jason Alexander Lorich has done his time. Well, he didn't serve his full ten-year sentence, but he served eight and half years. You see, criminals never have to do the time the judge and jury sentence them to. They get out early for things like "good behavior" and such. Since there aren't any children in jail with them, guys like Lorich usually don't get in much trouble.
Lorich's release date was today, February 14. I'm sure he felt the Valentine's Day spirit as he left the confines that kept him from the opposite sex. Two months ago, Lorich, who was in court, said "I’m a completely different person than I was then." He wasn't exactly lying. Back then he was 28 years old. Now he's 36. He's lost some weight, too. He hasn't molested any children since 2000; but then, he hasn't had the opportunity.
Lorich's new residence in the free world, at the time of this writing, is at 8800 Niagara Falls Blvd, Niagara Falls, New York. His corrections profile notes that address was last confirmed on Feb 10, 2010. The address is a collection of rooms which was once called the Memory Lane Motel. In light of that, let's take an awful trip down Memory Lane…
In October of 2000, the horrible secrets of Jason Lorich, a North Tonawanda School District teacher came to light. A substitute teacher at Meadow Elementary School happened upon a crumpled-up piece of paper next to a sink in Lorich's classroom. The teacher took a look at the paper, a note to a little girl, –and was shocked at the words she read:
"I’m disappointed. I’m glad you wrote back but I’m disappointed. I’m disappointed because I made you feel uncomfortable…"
"I thought you enjoyed yourself and I would never have done anything if you didn’t want to ’cause I care about you very much."
"Love, Mr. Lorich"
Frightening? Disturbing? To anyone with any concern for a child whatsoever –absolutely chilling. The substitute teacher takes the note to a co-worker. The principal walks in. He questions both Lorich and the little girl. Both of them denied any problem. Though the underlying truth was there in black and white on that piece of paper –the issue was apparently dropped. That's right. As far as the school was concerned, the disturbing issue was over. Time to move on.
The little girl's parents sought counseling for their troubled daughter. The little girl told the counselor about the note. Thankfully, the counselor wasn't a rock-head like the principal was. Police were contacted. Lorich was arrested.
So, why did the child deny any problem? Well, first of all –she's a child. The adults, one in particular, who were supposed to be much more intuitive dropped the ball. Of course, a child could not be expected to tell the truth in this case. Fear is a powerful incentive for silence. So is shame. Jason Lorich was a large, intimidating man on a position of authority over a very young child.
The "secret" was one that Lorich shared with more than just this one little girl. At least six little girls, including the child above, were molested by Lorich. Lorich molested four eight-year-old girls and two nine-year-old girls. There may even have been more victims.
Lorich was convicted in 2001 on six counts of first degree sexual abuse. Lorich admits he started to molest children because he "gained lots of weight in the summer before teaching at Meadow School." He told police, "I lost self-confidence, depression ensued, and I was looking for something I didn’t have in my adult life." Whatever…
Lorich has been classified as a Level 3 sex offender. There is no rating more dangerous than this one. His post-release supervision ends Jan 14, 2013.
By the way, that isn't the unknown comedian in the above photo. That's Jason Lorich. He doesn't want anyone to know what he looks like. I'll be sure to put up a more recent photo as soon as one is available. In the meantime, the undated photo in the above right of this post is a mugshot of Jason Lorich, in case you failed to recognize the sack of shit to the left.
