Virginia State Police to Meet with Family of Annamaria Phelps

It looks like the Virginia State Police is going to step up and renew their investigation into four of the Colonial Parkway murders within their jurisdiction. This action is prompted from the FBI’s recent vow to examine the evidence from the murders with the new and improved technology that is now available. Only time will tell if the investigations will resolve any of the many questions that have haunted the friends and families of those killed in the 1980s attacks. One thing is for certain: those answers won’t come by doing nothing.

Chuck Margretta’s Bad Cell Phone Connection

Police were investigating 25-year-old Chuck Margretta for drugs when they seized his cell phone for evidence. On that cell phone, police found illicit photos of a young girl, whom they were able to identify. Investigators learned that Margretta had sexual contact with the 15-year-old girl during a period between May 22, 2009, and January 7 of this year.

Haiti: How You Can Help

A people whose country was already in a a desperate situation has received an even larger blow. On 12 January 2010, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 struck about 16 miles from the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince. A series of aftershocks, fourteen of them between magnitudes 5.0 and 5.9 then proceeded to add further damage. The International Red Cross estimates that about three million people were affected by the quake and as many as 50,000 people (perhaps many more) were killed.

Post: FBI Seeking Info in Parkway Cases

The FBI needs your help investigating the Colonial Parkway murders.

ParkwaySunday, October 12, 1986, the U.S. Park Service received a report that a car was off the road east of Cheatham Annex. Upon responding to the area, Park Rangers located a white 1980 Honda Civic in a wooded area off the Colonial Parkway between the Ringfield Plantation overlook and the York River. Cathleen Marian Thomas and Rebecca Ann Dowski were found deceased inside the vehicle -—both had been stabbed and strangled. They were last seen alive on Thursday evening, October 9, 1986 at a computer lab at the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia.
