Coquille, Oregon, Oct. 27, 2009 – Cory Courtright continues her quest for justice in the murder of her daughter, Leah Freeman, even as she faces another painful anniversary on Thursday, Oct. 29 – the day that would have been Leah’s 25th birthday. Freeman’s life was cut tragically short when, at fifteen years old, she disappeared while walking home in Coquille, Ore. the night of June 29, 2000. Her body was discovered in Fairview, a wooded town eight miles outside of Coquille, more than a month later on Aug. 3, 2000. After an autopsy was performed, it was determined that Freeman died from homicidal violence.
The OSBI has announced that the $160,000 reward for information in the murders of two Weleetka children has been renewed as of yesterday. The reward will remain in effect for 90 days. The reward is for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the those responsible for the murders of Skyla Whitaker and Taylor Placker.
Remember Dr. Jerrold Ecklind? He’s the Ormond Beach, Florida guy that brandished a firearm at a man while taking off with a woman in handcuffs. Not content with that trouble, he was later arrested in a drugged-up state, guns in tow, controlled substances hidden in a flashlight, and boots on the wrong feet. He got off pretty easy –being a doctor and all, sometimes that’s the way it works out. At any rate, Ecklind found it a good idea to leave Volusia County and the Daytona Beach area.

24-year-old Christopher Lance Helmlinger was last seen on September 27. That Sunday, after attending church, he had left his mother’s home in Berryville to walk to his grandmother’s home south of town, where he was living. He never showed up at his destination. His mother reported him missing a week later on October 4.
