All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Just because someone is accused, does not necessarily mean they are guilty.
This fact, however, does not diminish the right of the people to hold their own opinion, or their right to express that opinion freely.

Joy Hayward’s Killer Still At Large

Joy HaywardJoy Patricia Hayward, 28, was brutally murdered. Her killer is still at large. Her family and friends would like very much to see justice served.

On February 11, 2004, Joy Hayward checked into the Days Inn hotel in Chester, Pennsylvania after an argument with her boyfriend. According to the desk clerk, a black male followed Hayward into the elevator. Hayward’s room was on the sixth floor. Joy called the front desk shortly after reaching her room, asking for help. The phone line went dead. The desk clerk allegedly did nothing in response.

Around 4:00 PM the next day, a maintenance man found Joy’s body the next day in the bathtub of her hotel room. She had been strangled to death.

DNA indicated the killer was a black male. Hayward’s cell phone had been taken.

Her sister, Kathi, called the phone on the night of the twelfth. A male voice answered the phone, but quickly hung up. The phone has never been located.

Cpl. Jennifer Crews-Carey, an Annapolis, Maryland police spokesman and close friend of Joy Hayward’s sisters since their school days, has set up Facebook group. The group is dedicated to finding Joy Hayward’s killer. You can join the group here.

The Anne Arundel County Cold Case unit has offered to assist in the case, Hayward having been a long-time resident there with lots of friends and family. Despite, the increasing amount of time the case has been unsolved, that offer does not appear to have been accepted.

Suspect SketchThe suspect is described as a black male in his thirties. The sketch provided is a composite drawing of the suspect.
