Grown Man Beats Three Year Old to Death
Eli Johnson was three years old. He was a cute little boy. He was an innocent child. But, the people in little Eli’s life led volatile lives. His parents fought with each other. His mother, Tye Nicole Shafer, fought with her boyfriend and her ex-husband. Her boyfriend fought with his wife. The adults were fighting and the kids –and there are more kids– were in the midst of this instability. They were in danger.
Eddie Valdez has kids of his own. He had some custody issues. He was pretty angry about them. His MySpace shows that he was pretty angry a lot of the time. One day, Eddie’s anger had fatal results. Eli Johnson took his wrath. Eddie inflicted his rage on the helpless child. Eli Johnson was beaten badly. And then, Eli Johnson was beaten to death.
3-year-old Eli Johnson was severely physically abused in an apartment on Southwest 77th and Monterey Drive in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was taken to a hospital where he died . Doctors noticed multiple injuries on Eli’s body. Police were called and the boy’s mother and her boyfriend were brought in for questioning.
24-year-old Tye Nicole "Nikki" Shafer (aka as Tye Nicole Johnson), and her boyfriend 23-year-old Eddie Valdez, are being charged in the baby’s death. (Valdez is not Eli’s father.) The two were booked into the Oklahoma County Jail yesterday evening. Valdez is being held on a child abuse complaint and Tye Nicole Johnson on a complaint of permitting child abuse. These charges are in addition to the more serious charge of murder. Seven other kids were taken from Shafer’s home and placed in protective custody. Seven. How many of those kids took a beating? You know, I think Ms. Shafer may have wanted to end the drama and the fighting in her relationships. At least, that is what I took from reading her MySpace blog. Too bad. She waited a bit too long. Now her child is dead.
