Travis Wayne Baczewski in Custody; Arrested Near Border
CrimeShadows News has been following the pursuit of Travis Wayne Baczewski since last night. Baczewski is a person of interest in the homicide of his mother, Violetta Baczewski, 54, of Austin, Texas. He was apprehended after law enforcement followed up on a tip to his location.
Baczewski was arrested tonight at a La Quinta hotel in Alamo, Texas, near the Mexican border. Law enforcement, including the Alamo Police, U.S. Marshals, and a SWAT team from the San Juan police department surrounded the hotel at around 1:00 PM. Baczewski’s room was under stakeout for several hours while the surrounding rooms (consisting of several floors) were cleared of occupants. Baczewski reportedly surrendered –unarmed and without incident. It is unknown (to the public) if Baczewski had weapons within the room.
Baczewski is in the Hidalgo County jail, under authority of U.S. Marshals, and will be brought to back to Travis County.
The manner in which Viloetta Baczewski died has not been released. However, the case is being investigated as a homicide due to the nature of her injuries.
