26-year-old Micheal William VanNess was not on New York’s registry of sex offenders. Apparently, being a child molester isn’t enough to get you on the list in the state of New York. I guess the perverts up there have too much competition, or something. VanNess did show up on North Carolina’s sex offender registry, where he was listed as residing at 10 Lupine Lane in Queensbury, New York. I guess North Carolina realizes that perverts often cross state lines and they are liable to repeat their crimes. In New York, offenders like VanNess aren’t considered dangerous enough to alert the public about. That’s why one little girl is very lucky her dad had an eye out. The man was able to catch a predator in the act. The man intercepted VanNess’s messages that were intended for his daughter. He helped get a pervert off the street before it was too late. VanNess was arrested July 8 for endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor. However, trying to lure a girl behind a Glen Falls bar with text messages isn’t enough to get you locked up in New York, either. To reward the father’s vigilant action, the authorities let VanNess loose on his own recognizance until he was to appear in court. They thought it just fine to let VanNess have a little more prowl time. Real efficient system they have up there. Read on to see how that brilliant idea worked out.
On July 11, just a few days later, VanNess goes after another little girl, this one in Queensbury. This time, he skipped the text message bit. He went straight for the brass ring. This girl’s father was also vigilant. He heard a commotion and went to check it out. He caught VanNess trying to break into his sleeping daughter’s window. VanNess had opened a window screen and was trying to climb into the girl’s room. Police charged him with attempted second-degree burglary. VanNess had more than "burglary" on his mind, though. He had a note that detailed the sexual things he wanted to do to the girl. He told police he had also came to the same house the day before to deliver the note. Is that frightening, or what? So why was this guy running around loose? It’s not like he just up and started being a pervert just last week. VanNess has been a pervert for quite some time. Read on to learn a little more about this creep that has been wasting precious oxygen for so long.
For what it’s worth, Michael William VanNess has a tattoo on his shoulder of the Grim Reaper and a dead girl, according to records of his incarceration.
In February of 2005, VanNess was arrested at Fort Belvoir, Virginia for possession of child pornography. VanNess was dishonorably discharged from the U.S. Army.
In April 2006, VanNess was charged with indecent liberties with a minor in Hoke County, North Carolina. The attack occurred on June 22, of 2005. They let him out in March of 2008. While he was in prison he racked up a long list of disciplinary actions. He was found guilty of ten of those charges.
In January 2009, VanNess was arrested with another man, Matthew J. White. the two had planned to burglarize a concession stand. They were charged with possession of burglary tools, a misdemeanor. They had bolt cutters, a pry bar and a large hammer, and several cut locks. Police believe the two were involved in earlier Washington County thefts.
I think it’s about time we let Michael VanNess try "breaking out" instead of "breaking in." He has made it more than plain that he doesn’t really need to be running around loose.
