Kenneth Dyar Wood: A Pentecostal Pervert
Kenneth Dyar Wood, of Danville, Alabama, resigned from his pastoral position at Barnett’s Chapel Pentecostal Church in Morgan County on April 26. The resignation of Wood, 70 years old, was unlikely to have been one of those joyful rewards after a lifetime of respected service. Kenneth Wood was resigning because he had molested a child.
Kenneth Dyar Wood has been charged with first degree rape and sexual abuse of a child less than twelve years of age. His attack of an eleven-year-old Colbert County girl occurred in December of last year. According to investigators, this was not an isolated incident and the child was not the only victim. Two other victims were revealed by their investigation, which, though Wood only resigned last week, has lasted over two months. Wood has only been charged regarding one victim –the eleven-year-old girl.
The young victim was said to have been a an acquaintance of Wood’s family. The girl told her mother of the attack after having some medical problems. The child’s mother then contacted the Colbert County, Alabama Department of Human Resources. The attack happened at Wood’s home.
Wood claims he is innocent. If convicted, Wood could face a maximum sentence of life in prison. Wood was taken to the Lawrence County Jail where he was held on a $70,000 dollar bond.
