Daniel Joseph Holdren Loved Church Fellowship
They Are Weak, But He Is Strong
45-year-old Daniel Joseph Holdren of Yelm, Washington liked to attend church functions held by the Church of the Nazarene. He loved the fellowship with other church members there, especially the little girls. He was always ready to give them a big hug. He made special gifts and gave them to the little girls. Apparently, the people at the Church of the Nazarene were oblivious to the attention that he was bestowing on their most innocent of church-goers. A quick check of Washington's state sex offender registry would have revealed that Daniel Holdren enjoyed the company of children for less-than-godly reasons. The registry would have shown that Holdren was, in fact, a pervert. He was on the registry for communicating with a minor for immoral purposes. Holdren has been under the supervision of the state of Washington since 1988. He's a Level 2 sex offender:
Level II offenders generally present a moderate risk to the community and they have a higher likelihood of re-offending than Level I offenders. They may be considered a Level II offender because of the nature of their previous crime(s). For some Level II offenders, lifestyle (drugs and alcohol abuse, other criminal activity) may influence their potential to re-offend. For others it may be that they have refused to participate or failed to complete approved treatment programs. Each trait does not necessarily apply to every Level II offender. For example, there are offenders classified Level II only because of the nature of their crime(s) while the other factors such as lifestyle and failure to complete treatment do not apply. Back then, Holdren was charged with indecent liberties. In 2003 he was in trouble again. Holdren has been on supervised probation all these years –not that it prevented him from doing his thing. In this modern age, when information about anyone is only a click away, it's hard for me to imagine that no one in charge at the church was aware of Holdren's inclination toward Evil. In fact, when an Olympia newspaper tried to contact the church, the person who answered the phone responded by hanging up. The more you read about churches and sex offenders, the more one can see that this type of evasiveness is a typical response. A word to churches and others whose heart bleeds for the predators of this world: When you give the gift of forgiveness, be sure you realize who you're taking it from.
Daniel Holdren has just been arrested for molesting an 11-year-old girl. For now, he sits in the Thurston County Jail without bail for first-degree child molestation. He was supposed to undergo a "safe-to-be-at-large" evaluation to see if he was safe to be among the public until he's tried. If such a consideration weren't so disturbing, it would be funny. I, however, can't bring myself to laugh. But, this is the pussy-willow world of justice that often gives these predators free range at the expense of children. It appears that the powers that be haven't found him safe to be let free. That is a bit of consolation, but a little too late.
Police believe that Holdren has probably victimized even more children during his "supervised" probation. They are asking people to come forward.
