Known Sex Offender Arrested for Murder of Alycia Nipp
This is an update to an earlier post.
Yesterday I wrote about the murder of a little girl in Vancouver, Washington. At that time, Alycia Nipp’s killer was unknown, but was considered to be an opportunistic killer. Today, we may know who her killer is. People should be angry. Your anger should not be called "moral panic." Your anger should not be called "overreacting". Your anger should not be discounted. If this man is indeed the killer, it is justified. If this man was not allowed free range, as dangerous perverts should not be, this little girl might be alive today. But he was let loose upon the neighborhood. She was hunted down and killed. That 13-year-old girl was stabbed, multiple times, resulting in her death. Darrin Eugene Sanford had already been arrested in 1998 for 2 counts of luring and sexual motivation. He was released, because some people don’t consider these crimes serious enough or dangerous enough to warrant serious limitations on their freedom. Some people think these monsters can be cured, or that they can be "monitored." It looks as if they were wrong.
Perhaps I’m panicking. Perhaps that is what you’re thinking. I’m Chicken Little and the sky is falling. Just listen to what this man did way back before this little girl was stabbed to death. Listen to what he did to become a registered sex offender. Then, you tell me that he deserved to be roaming free among law-abiding citizens –among children.
Before I get into this any further, I would just like to say that I am blaming the laws (and the liberals who help make them so lenient), not the enforcers of the law. I’m sure the people in the Clark County Sheriff’s Department are just as disgusted and frustrated with this as anyone. In fact, I’m sure if they say too much about these offenders that they would surely be accused of "fear-mongering, as that is the custom of those who protect this sort of filth. I commend them on their quick action in locating and taking this man into custody. I only wish that the laws we have for these men and women to work with were more efficient.
According to the Clark County Sheriff’s Department, Darrin Eugene Sanford is a Level Three offender.
"Level III offenders and those sex/kidnap offenders who, based on currently known information, are rated most dangerous to the public and who are a high risk to re-offend within the community at large."
"Most dangerous." Sounds to me like they don’t get much worse. What is worse that "most dangerous?" More better dangerous? The mostest dangerous? No, Most Dangerous is just about the most dangerous you can get. Unfortunately, these monsters, who are most dangerous, are allowed to live and roam in pretty much any place they choose. But don’t be afraid. Sex offenders have always lived among us. They’re a protected species. They are, however, far from being endangered. On the other hand, the danger lies with the children they choose to prey on. But, again, there’s no reason to be afraid. There’s nothing to be afraid of. Let’s don’t be silly.
So, let’s get down to what Darrin Eugene Sanford did to become listed among the worst of the worst. First of all, he goes to the playground at Harney Elementary School. There, he comes across a group of children, aged 8 to 11 years old. He starts to play with the kids, who are a bit creeped out by him. He kept touching this little boys butt, as he pushed him high on a swing. This, of course, made the child uncomfortable. Then, Sanford offers the kids some money if they would perform oral sex. The kids got the Hell way from Sanford, but Sanford wasn’t done. He finds them later in another part of the playground, described as "sparsely wooded." He tried to coax the kids into coming home with him so they could "play house." The kids knew he was a pervert. They knew they should not be around him. Too bad the adults didn’t know better than to let him go where he pleased from then on. Too bad for Alycia Nipp.
When Sanford was released from custody, he was registered in Clark County as homeless. He was "monitored" by the Department of Corrections, the Vancouver Police Sex Offender Tracking Unit, and the Clark County Sheriff`s Office Sex Offender Registration Unit. Sounds like they’ll be able to keep a close watch on him, doesn’t it? Well, it’s a nice thought, but far from practical. It is better than nothing. The only way to keep a good watch on a predator that lives freely in a world filled with children, is to lock him up. You wouldn’t let a predatory tiger or a lion roam free in your neighborhood, would you? Why let any other predator –especially one so dangerous and cunning as a man? But, that is exactly how our society treats predators. We say, to Hell with the safety of our children –this predatory creature who hungers after our kids deserves to live in the neighborhood with them. He has rights. He’s a human. The most we can do is say "watch out" by putting their names on an obscure list that does nothing but let us know where the man should be, not where he is or what he’s doing.
According to Clark County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Scott Schanaker, "Sanford is one of a number of transient sex offenders living in the Hazel Dell area." Detectives arrested Sanford around 6:30 PM yesterday on suspicion of the murder of thirteen-year-old Alycia Nipp. Sanford has been booked into the Clark County Jail. His intitial court appearance was this morning at 09:00 AM. Of course, he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
