Police are set to arrest Ingmar Guandique for the murder of Chandra Levy. Guandique is an inmate in the Washington D.C. prison system.
Guandique has been in jail since July 2001 for attacking two women in Rock Creek Park. One woman was attacked two weeks after Chandra’s disappearance. Another woman was attacked in July. The women were jogging when Guandique "clotheslined" them and dragged them down the hill, where the women struggled with him. Both women escaped. Guandique was eventually captrued. He pled guilty to the attacks.
Chandra Ann Levy was a Federal Bureau of Prisons intern in Washington, D.C., who disappeared in the spring of 2001. She was later found murdered in Rock Creek Park. The investigation into her disappearance uncovered an affair with then U.S. Representative Gary Condit, a Democrat representing California’s 18th congressional district and a senior member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. Although Condit was never called a suspect by police, the uproar led to his exit from Congress.
