13-Year-Old Alycia Nipp Was Stabbed to Death

A little girl took a shortcut on her way home and walked into danger. Alycia D. Nipp, just 13 years old, was stabbed to death and left in an overgrown field in a suburb of Vancouver, Washington.
On February 22, Clark County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the girl’s home around 1:00 AM. Hazel Dell area of Clark County, outside of Vancouver. Alycia D. Nipp was reported missing at that time. When they got there, the deputies were told that Alycia was last seen around 5:00 PM. She had decided to walk through a field north of the Goodwill store on NE 78th St. where she parted with her friend with whom she had been walking. Alycia’s stepfather was not home when deputies arrived. He was out searching for his stepdaughter. The stepfather returned to the home about 2:30 and said that he had found Alycia, dead, in an empty field west of the house, about 200 yards east of NE 13the Ave.
Police say it appears as if Alycia was murdered in the large field before being dragged 100 yards into a wooded area. She was fully clothed and there was no sign of sexual assault. An autopsy determined that she had been stabbed to death. She had been stabbed numerous times.
Police say the area is frequented by transients and there are several abandoned homes. There is a person of interest, however police do not believe he is a transient.The attack is believed by police to have been random and that Alycia was targeted due to opportunity.
The person of interest is described as white male, 20-30 years old, about 5-foot-9, weighing around 190 pounds and "clean cut." He was last seen wearing a brown baseball hat, a green long-sleeved fleece shirt and blue jeans. he is said to ride a silver mountain bike.
