Weleetka Pastor Accused of Attacking Children in Fellowship Hall
A Weleetka pastor stands accused of child molestation. Marvin James Lowe, 52, has been charged with 14 counts of lewd molestation, one count of rape by instrumentation, and one count of lewd exhibition of person. The victims were children that attended his church with their families. Lowe’s attacks occurred in the fellowship hall of the Arbeka Indian Baptist Church, which he heads. Officials expect more victims to come forward now that Lowe is in custody. Lowe is a Native American of the Creek (Muscogee) Nation. Lowe now sits in the Okfuskee County Jail on a $245,000 bond.
Close to Crime Scene, But Not Related
Lowe, who was ordained as a pastor in 2004, lives near the site of the double homicides that occurred back in June of this year. The church is very near the location of the murders. The OSBI says that there is nothing to indicate any connection between Lowe and the murders, however, they will investigate. Marvin Lowe was questioned last summer, after the double homicide of Skyla Whitaker and Taylor Placker. This isn’t necessarily alarming, as hundreds of other area residents were also questioned. Lowe also does not seem to match the description of the person of interest sought in the case (see below). Investigators with the OSBI said that "bodily fluid" found at the scene of the murders of the will help in their investigation.
11 year-old Skyla Whitaker and 13 year-old Taylor Placker were shot to death with two separate caliber weapons on June 8 of 2008. Their murder is still unsolved. A person of interest is being sought in the case –a man described as Native American, or possibly Caucasian, standing outside a single cab pick-up, white in color. The man was said to have been wearing a cap and had a pony tail. The truck had an Oklahoma license tag. A composite sketch, seen within this post, was created by forensic artist Harvey Pratt.
