(This post is an update to a story posted yesterday: Pregant Woman Found Dead – Oklahoma City)
The woman who was murdered in northeast Oklahoma City yesterday has been identified –and so has her killer. Nineteen year-old Shantina Thomas was found dead yesterday (December 4), with obvious signs of trauma to her body, at a home located at 1524 NE 14th Street in Oklahoma City. Police interviewed her boyfriend and he was released. They also interviewed a fifteen year-old.
John Maurice Jones, 15, was arrested yesterday on two counts of first degree murder. Thomas was three months pregnant when she was killed. Jones lived in the same neighborhood. He is now in the Oklahoma County jail.
The motive for this brutal murder is still unknown. This is so very tragic. A young woman’s life –and that of her child– has been taken in a manner most violent. Her killer isn’t even old enough to drive, but it appears he has displayed a level of violence and rage beyond that of a mere child. This didn’t have to happen. But it did. These types of murders are happening much too often.
