Willie Simmons, senior pastor of the Central Baptist Church in Denver, Colorado is married with two children. This didn’t prevent him from pursuing his secretary. He used his power to hold her job over her head. But, it appears that he will not be prosecuted, even thought the allegations include his forcing his genitalia into the woman’s face on several occasions as he tried to make her perform oral sex on him. The final incident that led to the woman’s resignation was when he ejaculated on her.
The church hasn’t fired Simmons. In fact, to the Central Baptist Church, the whole incident has been downplayed as a "disturbance." Simmons will not be prosecuted even though the pastor admits he was "out of line." The DA doesn’t think he can win the case, so they’re just going to let it slide.
According to the police report, Simmons continued in his efforts to manipulate the woman. "I didn’t know you went to the police station … all I had to say was please forgive me, I’m sorry. I’ll never say anything to you. I did get out of line. Like I said, you could keep your job."
Ironically, Simmons is a member of the Worker’s Rights Board at Jobs With Justice. The group is described on their website as
"a public forum where workers can bring complaints against employers for violating their rights in the workplace. The Board is particularly concerned with protecting the rights of low wage workers, who are often women, immigrants, young workers, and workers of color, as they strive for justice in their workplaces."
Simmons is also the founder and CEO of Concerned About You, a basic job skills training program in the highway construction industry.
I reckon the church will forgive him and everything will be business as usual for the Reverend Willie Simmons.
