Jeffrey Hoffman is 27 years old. He has directed the Greece Marching Band (The Blue knights) for four years. The band consists of students between the sixth and twelfth grades. It is located in the Greece Central School District, outside of Rochester, New York. Hoffman also taught in elementary schools at two different locations in the district. He was a school teacher at both Craig Hill and Pine Brook Elementary Schools. He has also worked at Kirk Road Elementary.
Recently, the parents of one of his band students confronted the school administration. Their teenage daughter received a letter from Mr. Hoffman. The contents of the letter were very disturbing. It seems as if Mr. Hoffman was carrying on an inappropriate relationship with the child. After seeing the letter, the school administrators contacted the police. The accusations thus far have not included any sexual contact.
Jeffrey Hoffman has been suspended with pay. He’s also facing two misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child. His bond was set at $500 dollars. He is to return to court on November 12. The school also plans disciplinary action. It looks as if Mr. Hoffman may be looking for another job. Hopefully, this is an isolated incident. Perhaps it’s best if Mr. Hoffman seeks employment that doesn’t require association with young students.
Correction: The original post indicated Hoffman was suspended without pay. That was incorrect. He is still being paid.
