Who Was Garland Bernell Harper?
Garland Bernell Harper, 38, was booked into the Harris County Jail today on capital murder charges. He has confessed to the brutal strangulation of three people. Triska LaShaun (Roberson) Rose, 38, and her two daughters, Briana Roberson, 15, and Maya Love, 7 were found October 24 with their hands bound with wire and telephone cords around their necks. Harper, who is being held without bond, will make a court appearance this Monday, October 27, whereupon he will be assigned an attorney.
Garland Bernell Harper was born December 11, 1969. Records show that Harper has been married at least once before, on August 1, 1992. He served time in prison for robbery. He had pushed a woman down, stealing her purse. Harper had served a ten year prison term. He was released around a year ago. He had been living with Rose for several months and the couple were to be married in December.
The question still remains: Why? The motivation for this senseless and maniacal attack is still unknown. The medical examiner’s office will be examining the bodies of the three victims over the weekend.
