Strangeness in the Case of Missing Judy Jo Lindsey

LindsayEarlier this week, I wrote about the disappearance of Judy Jo Lindsey. Today, reports are indicating that this story is stranger than it first appeared. Family members of Lindsey said that changes had been noticed in her mental state. On October 21 (5 days after Lindsey went missing), the Nichols Hills Police Department filed charges against Lindsey in relation to a September 21 traffic incident. No word as to why an entire month has passed since the incident before charges were filed. Lindsey was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and aggravated eluding of a police officer. The charges are felonies carrying a penalty of up to 15 years in prison. According to police, Lindsey was arrested last month after an officer tried to stop her for speeding in the 1500 block of Wilshire Boulevard. She was clocked at 40 mph in a 25 mph zone. When the officer got out of his car to approach her vehicle, she sped off. Lindsey reportedly ran several stop signs and reached speeds of 50 mph during the chase. At Pennsylvania Avenue and Wilshire Blvd, Lindsey pulled into a circular driveway. The officer got out of his vehicle to approach her, and Lindsey sped through the grass towards him. Her car hit his leg, but he was not injured. Other officers joined in the chase, which reached speeds of 65 mph. Lindsey was eventually arrested at her home. Now, she is missing.

(Added October 24: I have to add that I find it strange that police would charge this woman only after she went missing. Why did they let her out of custody in the first place? The added fear of further prosecution to a woman so obviously mentally troubled seems very counter-productive. Perhaps someone with the police department could explain this decision. It seems the additional charges could have waited until she was found safe. I truly hope that this woman is found safe so that she can receive the help she needs.)

Judy Jo Lindsey hasn’t been seen since noon Friday, October 17. The last time anyone saw her, she was at home in the 8000 block of NW 127 Circle in northwest Oklahoma City. Her silver, 2008 Mercedes C300 is also gone.

Lindsey is 5′ 1" tall and weighs 110 pounds. She is a 65 year-old white female. She has gray hair and brown eyes. She is believed to be driving a 2008 Mercedes C300 4 door, silver in color, with Oklahoma Tag BXX-873
