Kayla Fernandez – Tragic Life, Tragic End
Since I started blogging more about current events, as opposed to cold cases, the onslaught of brutality that children must face everday is so much more apparent. It is ugly. It is heartbreaking. It makes me angry. It’s all too hopeless a feeling that is very hard to shake. As a writer and blogger, I hear these stories everday. You, as readers, hear them, too. I know of regular blog readers that have to take a break from reading to save themselves from depression. But, to many of us, these are only words that cause us pain. We don’t know these children. We cannot imagine the horror that befalls them. For them, these words are their life, and all too often –it is their death.
Kayla Fernandez was born prematurely. The little girl has had two heart surgeries. Her days were more recently spent at a specialty health care center. Before that, Kayla lived in northern California. There, in 2003, it is believed she suffered from head trauma and fractures.
According to the LA Times, Kayla was taken from the specialty health care center to the Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center. Kayla died at 11:33 AM, Monday, September 29. She was only five years old.
I hope that the person or persons responsible for terrorizing and killing this poor little girl answer for their crimes. I hope, that as long as they continue to draw breath, they never come close to another child. This should never have happened. No child should have to live and die like this.

It bothers me that reporter's are allowed to report information with trully investigating the situation. Yes, Kayla's death was very tragic and she will be trully missed! Her tragic death was due to the neglagence of Northern, CA hospital. Once the District Attorney found out about the malpractice everything was let go. It's all about the politics and who's ass they can cover! It is unfortunate that the parents were not in a position to seek the legal advice. I truly believe that the hospital she was born at should be held responsible. Hopefully, the parents can find a way to make sure that the hospital is held responsible for Kayla's tragic death. Let her death not be in vain but to open the eyes of others to show how you cannot always put your trust in hospitals and most of all doctors who are in the care of our little angels.

YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO POST THIS ARTICLE NOR HAVE ANY RIGTH TO MENTION MY DAUGHTERS NAME. I FEEL THAT PEOPLE LIKE YOU HAVE WAY TOO MUCH TIME ON YOUR HANDS AND LOVE TO GET ATTENTION AND JUST WANT TO MAKE A NAME FOR YOURSELF. NEXT TIME GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT BEFORE YOU GO POSTING SOMEONE ELSES LIFE AND HURTING SOMEONE ELSE BY YOUR STUPIDITY AND PERSONAL COMMENTS. The author of the original news article is, by all accounts, a respected journalist, and, thus far, I haven't been given any reason to doubt the story. An abusive post from an anonymous poster is not worth much to me. So, call me an idiot, question my motives, and white-wash this the best you can. It doesn't change the fact that this child died tragically and because of the malevolent action or inaction of another.
I also find it strange that those who are inclined to tell me to “get the facts straight” never offer any facts of their own. I wonder why that is? I won't be deleting the comments –they may say more about the situation than their author intended.
