Update October 26:
The cause of death has not yet been released. Initial reports appear to have been inaccurate. While strangulation "may have come into play", police say the victims appear to have been killed with sharp instruments. The bodies had been bound with cords. The older daughter is said by her boyfriend to have secretly been three months pregnant. This has not been confirmed by authorities. Regardless, this would not affect the charges already against Harper, who will appear again in court tomorrow. Harper has confessed to the three murders. He is being charged with capital murder.

Garland Bernell Harper, 38, has turned himself in at the crime scene. he has been charged with capital murder in the brutal strangulation deaths of Triska Lashawn Rose, 38, and her two little girls, Briana Roberson, 15, and Maya Love, 7.

Where is the press coverage? I would think a story with this level of brutality would have hit the national wire by now. As of this writing (October 25 3:1 a Google News Search of the killer’s name shows zilch. The same search on the web has this blog post as the most relevant story. Then, there are only two other articles about the murder showing up, both from the same website. Unless you are looking for this story, or just happen to follow Houston news, you probably aren’t going to hear much about it.
A woman and her two daughters were found murdered in their own home in Houston, Texas. There was no sign of forced entry to the apartment building. All three victims had their hands bound with wire. Triska Lashawn Rose and her two daughters, a fifteen year-old and a seven year-old, had been strangled two death. Telephone cords were around their necks.
The woman, 38, was supposed to drop her two kids off at a Houston home at 6:00 AM. She didn’t show up. When she didn’t appear for work at Kids R Kids Daycare, Rose was called at home. There was no answer. Police were called to perform a welfare check at Rose’s home at the Terrace Condominiums on Turtlewood, near Bellaire. They knocked on the door, but didn’t notice anything suspicious. Friends of Rose finally knocked the door down at 5:00 PM yesterday and made the horrific discovery.
According to Rose’s friend Becky Anthony, blood surrounded the body of Triska Rose. One child had been wrapped in a blanket. The other child was in the bathroom, face down with her hands bound behind her back.
The crime occurred at the Terrace Condominiums, 10555 Turtlewood Court. As of yet, there have been no arrests. The woman’s fiance is a person of interest. The fiance’s whereabouts are unknown as of this writing. According to the adult victim’s stepbrother, the man had recently been released from a ten-year prison stint for "robbery or… murder." He was reportedly an ordained minister. His name has not been made public.
