Circuit Judge J. David Walsh wished Jerrold Randall Ecklind "Good luck to you out there!" I think that was pretty much like saying "screw you" to the public –but that’s just my opinion. Walsh said that Ecklind’s attorney, Michael Lambert, convinced him that Ecklind provides an "outstanding service" to the community. Which service is that? Driving under the influence? Pointing loaded weapons? Driving hookers around in exchange for sex? Handcuffing citizens? Entertaining cops with his stoned out antics? Trying to rob people? Ecklind spent five years on probation before he became a doctor. He had pled no contest to attempted robbery with a firearm in 1989. Even Ecklind’s attorney says that something is "amiss." He did say he has noticed a change for the better recently.
Part of Jerrold Ecklind’s last sentence is to complete 100 hours of community service, undertake mental health evaluation and anger management classes. He’s not allowed to possess any weapons while on parole. I guess that means he’ll have to give up his 40 or 50 weapons for the duration. In case you didn’t know, Ecklind is also a gun collector. He still has additional charges to face stemming from a drugged out night on the town. He was found driving around with prescription drugs hidden in his car. His boots were on the wrong feet. That trial is set to take place in January. Ecklind was charged with driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance.
