Who are you going to believe –two crackheads, one of whom is a prostitute, or a doctor who makes house calls? Dr. Jerrold Ecklind was found not guilty of felony aggravated assault while armed with a firearm, false imprisonment and impersonating a police officer. The jury was not allowed to hear testimony where Ecklind confessed that he offered Oslizlo a ride in exchange for sexual favors. Circuit Judge J. David Walsh sided with the defense, which put forth that Ecklind’s own testimony was unrelated and prejudicial.
Ecklind was found guilty of improper exhibition of a weapon, a misdemeanor, meaning his sentence will be much lighter If he been found guilty of the charges brought against him by the prosecution, he could faces at least fifteen years in jail. Now, he only faces up to a year.
Hopefully, Dr. Ecklind will get his life back on track now that he has been given this second chance. He’ll have to give up sex with hookers and quit (allegedly) prescribing himself morphine and driving around under the influence.
Ecklind still has to face charges of driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance. These charges happened in July, months after his earlier arrest.
