Daytona Beach Police are now saying that Stacey Gage’s killer may be a copy cat, and not the same killer of the first three confirmed victims.
A serial killer has been positively connected by DNA to the deaths of Laquetta Gunther, Julie Green, and Iwana Patton. The three women were killed in 2005 and 2006. Stacey Gage went missing December 10, 2007. Her body was discovered January 2, 2008. On January 23, Police announce that Stacey Gage may have been killed by the same perpetrator that killed the first three women. Daytona Beach Police Chief Mike Chitwood said her killing was “eerily similar” to the earlier murders. Now, police are saying that Gage’s killer may not be connected to the other three, after all.
It has been reported that DNA was recovered from Gage’s killer. Police have never said how that DNA compared to that of the killer of the earlier three women. If the DNA isn’t a match, one would think they would come out and say so.
I would like to point out that if the killer is the same, and Gage was indeed the victim of the serial killer, that he has not missed a year since 2005. He may have missed a season, though. No murders officially connected to the serial killer occurred in the winter of late 2006 and early 2007. The body of Laquetta Gunther was found in December of 2005. That same winter, in January and February of 2006, the bodies of Julie Green and Iwana Patton were found, respectively. Stacey Gage went missing in December of 2007. Her body was discovered in January of 2008. So, since 2005, the murders have all occurred in the winter months. As the next winter approaches, we can only hope that the killer, or his copycat, will not make another appearance.
