Thirty-five year-old Sylvia Russell was found unconscious and near death in the roadway at 39th Avenue and Thomas Road, in Phoenix, Arizona yesterday (August 23) at 3:00 AM. She was eight months pregnant. Russell was taken to a hospital where she, and her unborn child, passed away.
At first, it was believed Russell had been struck by a vehicle (hit and run). Detectives later determined that her injuries were not consistent with being hit by a vehicle. Police are still investigating this case.
