Chitwood: Serial Killer Will Mess Up
The Daytona Beach Serial Killer is still at large, but police are counting on him to be his own worst enemy. Referring to the unknown suspect that has killed at least four women since 2005, Daytona Beach Police Chief Mike Chitwood stated “I’m sure he’s still here in the area. I’m sure he’s watching and listening to everything we do…Sooner or later, he’s going to make a mistake and we’re going to get him, and if you look at the history of serial killers, somewhere along the line they make a mistake.” Chtiwood said that the killer has already made the blunder of leaving DNA evidence at the scenes, making it only a matter time before he is identified.
Chitwood says the key to not letting the cases get “cold” is by keeping it a hot topic. “The whole key to not having it become a cold case, is keeping it hot, keeping it a hot topic, keep on generating information because once the information dries up, we’re out of business.”
That is the goal of the Daytona Beach Serial Killer Website, a CrimeShadows site dedicated to providing information and generating interest in the is case. I encourage readers to take a look at the information and see if if they can help in any way.
