Today, at around 2:00 PM, George Marquez Rodriguez poured gasoline all over a woman and then set her on fire. The woman's three children were also in the house in southeast Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. At least one of those children saw her own mother being set on fire.

The woman (whose name has not been released) has third degree burns on almost half of her body. This means she most likely (most definitely?) will need skin grafts to heal and will suffer extensive scars. (See this PDF for more information.)

But, that's not all this monster (And yes, there are such things as monsters, despite all the namby-pamby bleeding hearts that like to argue otherwise.) did. He put clothes up against the door of the house and started another fire. Remember, there were three children in the house –a three year-old, a seven-year-old, and a ten-year-old. Rodriguez is the father (and I use the term loosely) of the children.

Rodriguez was arrested and he tried to escape from the police by kicking out the windows of a patrol car. Sounds like a real gentleman, doesn't he? Records show that back in March of last year, Rodriguez was convicted of escape from the Oklahoma County jail, where he now sits. (The photo to the left is from August of 2009) He was still on probation from that charge. He was booked into the Oklahoma County jail in June of 2003, but what he was charged with is not in the booking record.

It appears, according to records of Rodriguez' drunk driving arrests, that he used to live in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Back in New Mexico, records show that Rodriguez was a drunk driver there, too. But, he also tried to pull his escape acts using violence –just like he did here in Oklahoma. Back in 2006 in New Mexico, Rodriguez was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, aggravated fleeing a law enforcement officer, and –the reason he was arrested in the first place– aggravated DWI.

So, fast-forward to today to find Rodriguez is still the reprobate that he was back then. Rodriguez was arrested on two complaints of arson and one complaint of destroying police property. I'm no expert, but I see four counts of attempted murder. If not four, surely pouring gasoline on another human being and setting them on fire would qualify for at least one attempted murder charge. The severely-burned woman was taken to the Integris Baptist Medical Center.

Despite the very public efforts of social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook to eliminate profiles created by registered sex offenders, the sex offenders keep signing up. CSN Smackdown is a project aimed at countering sex offenders on these sites in a proactive way. The goal is to locate sex offenders operating in our online neighborhoods and report them to the site administrators. When the sites remove these offending profiles, we think the Internet becomes a little bit safer.

CSN Smackdown: Robert Wayne Guptill

Robert Wayne Guptill of Lewiston, Maine was convicted of importuning back in Lima, Ohio. I wasn't quite sure what importuning actually was, at least in the legal sense. According to the Ohio State statutes, it has something to do with an adult committing sex offenses with a minor thirteen years of age or younger.

Guptill is a registered sex offender with profiles on MySpace and Facebook.

CSN Smackdown: Brock Edward Eggleston

Brock Edward Eggleston of Missoula, Montana was convicted of sexual intercourse without consent. He is a registered sex offender in Montana.

Eggleston maintains profiles on MySpace and Facebook, even though both sites have taken measures to have sex offenders scrubbed from their midst. So, we'll give them a hand by reporting these two, and alerting the public that a sex offender may be in their online neighborhood.

CSN Smackdown: Jonathan David Taylor

Jonathan David Taylor of Bozeman, Montana was convicted of sexual intercourse without consent. Taylor is a registered sex offender. He is on MySpace, for the time being.

The Dead Kids of MySpace

Danny Lee Squibb of Walters, Oklahoma is a registered sex offender. Apparently, Mr. Squibb thinks you can still get on sites like MySpace and Facebook even after you have been convicted of lewd or indecent proposals or acts to a child (lewd molestation). Yes, Danny Squibb is a child molester who is on Oklahoma's sex offender registry as a level 3 sex offender. His crime is categorized as "aggravated." Squibb must register for the rest of his life.

We would like to put an end to Squibb's social network activity. You see, we have a right to know who is in our neighborhood, be it down the street, or just a click away online. Sex offenders just aren't welcome in our online communities. We shouldn't have to deal with them.

So, with that in mind, let's see Mr. Squibb off of MySpace and Facebook and hi5. The MySpace profile is a bit stale, but the others look as if they are current.

I'm pretty sure Squibb belongs to other networks out there, but, I cannot confirm his identity with enough certainty. Just beware. There are perverts out there that have molested children and they will continue to use the Internet. Sometimes, they will even use their profiles to prey on the innocent. We remove as many profiles as we can, but there are so many more. It is really shocking how easy they are to find. Contrary to the the whinings of the sex offenders who object to this project, there is no stalking required to find these guys. Nor do we harass them, as has been alleged. To the perverts who cry because they ruined they're own lives while victimizing others, the term "harass" means to spoil their online activities which weren't allowed in the first place. Let them whine. Let them pout. Let them make their vulgar attacks. Let them libel and slander. Let them gnash their teeth. It means we are winning the fight against sex criminals. Victory, even in small doses, is rather sweet.

The Wedding Dress Murder

Nineteen-year-old Patricia Denise Palmer was a newlywed in November of 1981. She had been married for about six months. Palmer and her husband were saving up to buy a house. She decided to place an ad in the newspaper classifieds to sell her wedding dress. The ad was placed on November 15. It appears that a predator found the ad –and answered. Two days after the ad was placed, Patricia Palmer was murdered.

The phone number in the ad belonged to Palmer's mother. On November 17, 1981, Palmer met with a man who she thought was a potential buyer. The meeting was to be at the home of her mother, near 41st and Sandusky in Tulsa, Oklahoma. That meeting was one of horror.

The man viciously attacked Palmer. She was sexually-assaulted, then strangled. Her nude body was placed in a bathtub full of water, where Palmer helplessly drowned. Her fight to escape her killer was very obvious. Palmer fought the man all the way down the hallway to the bathtub. The blood on the walls and the edge of the bathtub told the terrible story of her struggle.

That happened almost 30 years ago, and her killer has never answered for his brutal crime. Justice still waits for her killer. We hope it finds him someday. Someday soon.

On the day of her murder, Palmer was seen displaying the dress to a man at the front door of her mother's house. The man was described as being in his forties, with graying hair. A sketch was developed of that suspect. An age progression of the drawing was developed in 2007. The sketch on this page is the age progression. The original sketch has not been obtained. DNA from the rape kit was destroyed at the time due to improper storage. A piece of gum found in the tub may still hold a DNA clue.

Serial killer Paul Williford was considered a suspect. Williford, now incarcerated for the life without parole, was known for choking each of his victims. One of his victims was found in a bathtub. Another victim, who was fortunate to have survived, was discovered in a bathroom.

Wiilford told the Tulsa World about one of his police interviews:

"I told them about a couple out there that I choked, that passed out, and then I left. I know I did not kill them."

Court records show that Williford moved to Tulsa in 1980. Did he kill Patricia Palmer? We don't know. The murder matches his MO, but so do many others. Her killer may very well be on the streets to this day.

Patricia Palmer's case was featured on "The Maury Povich Show" in the 1990s.

Social networking sites contain countless profiles belonging to sex offenders. Sites like MySpace and Facebook "purge" their rosters in cooperation with law enforcement. Still, many profiles slip through. Some are cleverly disguised. Some are blatant attempts by the offender to pretend nothing ever happened. Some are just abandoned –but the potential for illicit contact or grooming behavior remains until the profiles have been shut down entirely.

CSN Smackdown is making a difference, but there are so many profiles out there we just can't get them all. We report all of the offenders we write about in CSN Smackdown. We even report others that we don't write about publicly. Most of the time, the sites are cooperative –but this is not always the case.

In 2004, Christopher Earl Dustrude of Great Falls, Montana was charged with two counts of sexual intercourse without consent.
