Trunk Incident Report (Decomposition)
Miscellaneous Released Documents
Caylee Marie Anthony, born August 9, 2005, is the baby girl who was reported missing in July, 2008, by her grandmother, Cindy Anthony, in Orlando, Florida. The child's grandparents last saw Caylee with her mother, Casey Anthony, at their home on mid-June 2008. After the grandmother instigated a police investigation through a series of 911 calls, the mother told police she had dropped off Caylee with a babysitter in June and had not seen her since.
The case has attracted national media attention, and has regularly been the main topic of one-hour episodes of talk shows hosted by Greta Van Susteren, Nancy Grace, Geraldo Rivera, and others. However, the Caylee Anthony story is distinguished by a frustrating unexplained lack of critical information from Caylee's mother, Casey Anthony, who has been charged (as of August 10, 2008) with child neglect and making false statements to investigators. Also, while continually beseeching the media and public to help in the search for Caylee, the grandparents, George and Cindy Anthony, have refused to disclose information they claim to have received from the mother about Caylee's whereabouts. In an interview with Van Susteren aired August 9, 2008, the date of Caylee's third birthday, the grandmother said she was sure that after the case is solved and Caylee is returned to the family that Casey would receive a "Mother of the Year Award" for what she did to protect Caylee. Numerous talk show guests have characterized both the mother and the grandmother as pathological liars, with one medical expert suggesting that the grandmother exhibits signs of Munchausen syndrome.
On August 21, 2008, Casey Anthony, the mother of missing 3-year-old Caylee Anthony, was released after over a month in jail. Casey Anthony walked out of the Orange County Jail at 10:30 a.m. Thursday after her $500,000 bond was posted Wednesday by California bounty hunter Leonard Padilla, along with his nephew, a bail bondsman.
